D1: Nairobi – Nanyuki
– Meet and greet at Nairobi Airport. Our guide will be waiting for you in the arrival hall carrying a branded sign board.
– Drive from Nairobi (1661m altitude) to the Central Highlands.
– Lunch: Trout Tree Restaurant
– Afternoon game drives in Ol Pejeta Conservancy.
– Visit to the Ol Pejeta Conservancy where you can feed the tame black rhino from a specially created feeding platform. Black rhinos are by nature very aggressive and territorial and this will probably be your only opportunity of ever getting close to one of these magnificent and endangered creatures. Be sure to have your camera ready for this once-in-a-lifetime experience. You will also have the prospect of visiting the Morani Information Centre, named in honor of the first tame black rhino that called this conservancy home. The centre affords visitors a chance to learn about the large variety of wildlife in the reserve and also provides comprehensive information as to how modern wildlife conservancy operates.

D2: Nanyuki – Samburu

– Visit to the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary, the only place in Kenya where these highly endangered and incredibly intelligent primates can be found. The sanctuary provides a haven for orphaned and abused chimpanzees who enjoy roaming freely in their vast natural enclosure. Many of the chimps that are taken to the sanctuary have been orphaned due to the abuse of man, and often arrive traumatized and ill. Through hard work and dedication, the staff assists the chimps in their rehabilitation and integration into one of the two groups within the reserve. The chimpanzees here can never be reintroduced into the wild and guests can ‘adopt’ one for a fee. The revenue collected goes back into the sanctuary to aid its ongoing operations.

– Visit to a traditional Samburu Village. Learn about the fascinating customs of the Samburu tribe, a proud warrior nation. Like their relatives the Masai Mara, they too are nomadic pastoralists, who travel together with their herds of cattle, camels and goats. During your visit you will receive unique insight into the Samburu’s ancient traditions and customs, including their homes, cooking methods and secrets to surviving in the African wilderness. Be entertained by some amazing tribal dancing and marvel at the layers of beaded jewellery that both men and women adorn themselves with.

– Guided walk on Crescent Island situated in the deepest part of Lake Naivasha. You will be transferred from by boat to the Island, the shores of this beautiful piece of paradise host an abundance of bird life and have especially large numbers of pelicans, cormorant and fish eagles. While the island is secure and private it is connected to the mainland and this allows animals to roam freely. See hippos grazing in the cool afternoon air or resting under acacia trees in the heat of day, while giraffe who were born on the island come back to birth their own young. The scenic beauty and sense of freedom in this little park has seen many film makers alight on its shores to film herds of wildebeest, waterbuck and zebra passing through the grassy savannah (Optional activities to be quoted on request).

-Discover the Masai Mara National Reserve, the most famous and most visited reserve in Kenya. Covering an area of 1510 km², the Masai Mara reserve is in fact the extension in Kenyan territory of the vast Serengeti Park in Tanzania. Together, they constitute a huge ecosystem in which animals move freely. All large African animals are present. Thomson’s and Grant’s gazelles, impala, Kirk’s dik-dik, bushbuck, topi, buffalo, ellipsen waterbuck, eland and giraffe, all are there. Famous for its rich wildlife, the Masai Mara is home to not only the “Big 5” (elephant, lion, buffalo, rhino and leopard) but also many birds (over 500 species of birds have been recorded). Along the rivers, crocodiles and hippos lie in wait.
In the Maa language, Mara means “spotted” and may refer to the colorful landscapes. Alternatively, the name may refer to the arrival of over two million herbivores during the annual migration (wildebeest, gazelles and zebras).

From Mount Kenya, Africa’s second highest peak, down to the flamingo-filled lakes, the area is a veritable explosion of superb sights and sounds. Sip on a refreshment as you relax and take in the sheer beauty surrounding you.

– Balloon safari in the Masai Mara, a magical experience as you take in a bird’s eye view of the vast, rolling plains below you. This unique and exhilarating excursion takes place early in the morning when you can marvel at the fantastic sight of the rising sun and gently float over the thousands of animals below you. This is the best time to spot wildlife as well as enjoy the peaceful vistas and crisp, clear air. Undisturbed by your presence, the animals will continue with their daily activities as you snap away and marvel at the beauty of Africa. The balloon safari ends by touching down in the wilds of the Masai Mara to enjoy a delectable champagne breakfast.

– Return to colonial Africa with a visit to the Karen Blixen Museum. This house and surrounding land was once home to famous author Karen Blixen who penned the novel Out of Africa which later become an award-winning movie. The house was built in 1912 and Blixen lived there for over 10 years, running a large and successful coffee plantation. The museum offers continuous guided tours of the house, which features rooms designed in both the original decor and with props from the 1985 film, while the grounds feature original equipment from the coffee plantation and are also available to tour. – Visit the Giraffe Center in Nairobi Feed the lofty wildlife with a visit to the Giraffe Centre in Nairobi. This non-profit organization was originally opened in order to protect the endangered Rothschild’s giraffe that is found only on the plains of East Africa. Since its inception the programme has been highly successful and has re-introduced pairs of breeding Rothschild’s giraffe into various national parks in Kenya. The center also offers free environmental education to young Kenyans and promotes conservation efforts of endangered species in the country. While on your visit you will have the opportunity of getting close to a giraffe or two as well as feed them and watch as they delicately use their long tongues to take the food from your hand. There are also a few warthogs that roam freely amongst the giraffes and a gift shop for visitors to enjoy. Unique and exhilarating, this visit will get you as close as you possibly can to giraffe in Kenya.

The Park has a stunning place to view the highest Mountain in Africa Mount Kilimanjaro. Amboseli National park was established to protect wildlife and the core ecosystem that make up the park to extend out across the border of Tanzania. The park is made up of embodies comprised of five main wildlife habitat such as open plains, woodland, acacia, rocky thorn bush county, swamps and Marsh land and also covers other areas of Pleistocene lake basin and dominated with dry areas outside during rainy seasons.

– Pick up from your hotel for a Swahili-style day excursion to Wasini Island. Your day will begin on a tasty note as you hop aboard a dhow (traditional fisherman’s boat) for a hearty Swahili breakfast that dishes up the most sensational flavours out of simple ingredients and includes fresh tropical fruit. Once you have had your fill, your excursion heads off to the nearby Kisite Marine National Park where swimming and snorkelling can be enjoyed in warm, calm waters that support a treasure chest of aquatic creatures and, more often than not, pods of friendly and curious dolphins.
