Detailed Itinerary

  • Transfer
  • Dinner: Hemingways Nairobi
  • Overnight: Hemingways Nairobi

Day 2: Lewa

  • Breakfast
  • Flight Nairobi Wilson – Lewa
  • The beauty of Lewa Wilderness isn’t just in the incredible scenery and wildlife explored daily with game drives – but in the wealth of activities and experiences to be had at every turn. Situated on the edge of one of Kenya’s most private wildlife and environmental conservation projects, the wildlife-rich Lewa provides guests a home-away-from-home experience that’s hard to find these days.
  • Lunch
  • Afternoon game drive. There is a very good chance of seeing all of the “Big Five” and Lewa is one of the only conservancies where guests are almost guaranteed to see the endangered black and white rhinos while on safari. With the backdrop of snow-capped Mount Kenya and the diversity of scenery from open plains, rolling hills, valleys, escarpments and rivers, Lewa is a magical place to game drive for the ultimate Kenyan safari experience.

           -Dinner: Lewa Wilderness

  • Overnight: Lewa Wilderness

Day 3: Lewa

  • Breakfast
  • Nature walk accompanied by trained Maasai guides to enjoy the environment from a different perspective. There is nothing more thrilling than watching rhino or elephant grazing in the morning light whilst you are on foot, or following the tracks of a leopard. Walks can be as easy or as hard as you like.
  • Lunch
  • At Lewa Wilderness, guests can choose beyond the normal safari transport options and opt to see the conservancy from a different view – on the back of a horse or even on the back of a camel! Just two minutes’ walk from the lodge, the Lewa Wilderness stables are home to over 30 horses and ponies. Many of the guest horses are home bred, whilst others are retired polo ponies. The horses are well accustomed to the wildlife as, during the day, they enjoy free range grazing alongside animals such as

zebra, giraffe, impala, eland and baboons. Many of our horses are used to carrying complete beginners enabling even first time riders to enjoy the unique experience of riding in the African bush. Riding one of the Lewa Wilderness horses allows you to enjoy the wildlife in its most natural form, without the sound of a car engine or the sight of a road – it’s truly quite a privilege.

  • Dinner: Lewa Wilderness
  • Overnight: Lewa Wilderness

Day 4: Lewa

  • Breakfast
  • An opportunity you won’t want to miss – to fly the wilds of Kenya. Fly in the open cockpit biplane with a pilot, He takes guests right above the treetops and weaves through gorges to show off the beauty of his homeland. The plane can take two passengers who accompany the pilot on a journey over forests, herds of game, and through ravines that are otherwise virtually inaccessible.

-Lunch

  • Dinner: Lewa Wilderness
  • Overnight: Lewa Wilderness

Day 5: Lewa – Masai Mara

  • Breakfast
  • Flight Lewa to Masai Mara
  • Lunch
  • Discover the Masai Mara National Reserve, the most famous and most visited reserve in Kenya. Covering an area of 1510 km2, the Masai Mara reserve is in fact the extension in Kenyan territory of the vast Serengeti Park in Tanzania. Together, they constitute a huge ecosystem in which animals move freely. All large African animals are present. Thomson’s and Grant’s gazelles, impala, Kirk’s dik-dik, bushbuck, topi, buffalo, ellipsen waterbuck, eland and giraffe, all are there. Famous for its rich wildlife, the Masai Mara is home to not only the “Big 5” (elephant, lion, buffalo, rhino and leopard) but also many birds (over 500 species of birds have been recorded). Along the rivers, crocodiles and hippos lie in wait. Composed of vast rolling plains and hills, the Masai Mara is dotted with umbrella thorn acacias and thorny thickets. In the Maa language, Mara means “spotted” and may refer to the colorful landscapes. Alternatively, the name may refer to the arrival of over two million herbivores during the annual migration (wildebeest, gazelles and zebras).
  • Masai Mara National Reserve entrance fee (valid for 24 hours) included.          – Afternoon game drive.
  • Dinner: Angama Mara

This unique and exhilarating excursion takes place early in the morning when you can marvel at the fantastic sight of the rising sun and gently float over the thousands of animals below you. This is the best time to spot wildlife as well as enjoy the peaceful vistas and crisp, clear air. Undisturbed by your presence, the animals will continue with their daily activities as you snap away and marvel at the beauty of Africa.
