This is the burial grounds for the Kings of Buganda (Kabakas of Buganda) and it was recognized by UNESCO in December 2001 as the World heritage site of local and international importance in the entire region of sub-Saharan Africa. This is because it was built purely by plant materials and so far four kings of Buganda have been buried at this site. It was constructed in a circular shape in 1882. Members of the Buganda royal family have been and are always buried here to date.
