Tsavo West and Tsavo East National parks form the largest protected area in Kenya. They are located approximately 240km from Nairobi via Mtito Andei gate. The parks topography is flatlands and scenic mountainous areas. The main vegetation is acacia, thorny bushes and scrubs. They are popular for the Man Eaters of Tsavo due to the incidents that happened during the construction of the Kenya Uganda Railway when a pair of Man Eating lions attacked and killed workers. The Red Elephants are also a main attraction in Tsavo. The Elephants are the same color as any other elephants in the world but their skin color turns red as they bath in the red volcanic soil to cool their body.
Mzima Springs, a series of 4 springs originating from Chyulu hills, pops at Mzima springs producing over 250 million litres of fresh water daily. It forms a habitat for several schools of hippos, crocodiles and several species of fish.
