This legendary park is one of the largest and oldest ecosystems on Earth, created in 1951 and covering about 14,800 km2 of open plains. Thus, its name Serengeti (from the word Siringet, meaning “endless” plain in maa, the language of the Maasai).
Besides being a great place to spot the Big Five, the Serengeti hosts the annual Great Migration. From June to November, this "greatest wildlife show on earth" sees more than a million wildebeest, plus hundreds of thousands of zebras and Thomson's gazelles, undertake the long trek to new grazing grounds.
You'll enjoy both morning and afternoon game drives to witness exotic animals in the park.
